Happy World Coconut Day

With healthy eating & drinking, natural hair care, and natural skincare on the rise, coconuts have been experiencing a major rebirth over the past few years. I remember 4-5 years ago, when I first tried to transition to natural, outside of natural health food stores, the only coconut oils I could find in the stores were highly processed, but now there are entire sections of natural, unrefined, cold-pressed, "virgin"coconut oil in most drugstores and mass retailers. In addition, coconut water, coconut milk, coconut cream, and coconut flakes abound.

Many manufacturers are also incorporating coconut into many of their product lines. I was recently sent some of the products from the Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya line.

This line is "enriched with natural, fair trade and certified organic ingredients that exfoliate, nourish, and renew skin for a smooth, healthy feel and glow. Since ancient times, coconut oil has been revered for its skin protecting and moisturizing benefits by millions of tropical communities in South America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. Coconut oil contains healthy fats, which aids in keeping skin smooth and soft to the touch. The products also feature Papaya, which is a prized fruit in Mexico and South America, and traditionally used for generations as an ingredient in homemade skincare concoctions for its rejuvenating properties."

I have tried several of the Nubian Heritage bar soaps. This Coconut & Papaya Bar Soap has a soft vanilla scent. It claims to polish and renew the skin. Coconut has many beauty-related benefits. I have used coconut oil as a makeup remover, skin moisturizer, hot oil treatment, and a cuticle oil. I've used coconut milk as part of a deep conditioning treatment. Papaya also has several skin-related benefits, such as restoring skin tone, shedding dead skin cells, moisturizing dry skin, and repairing aged skin. Combine these two ingredients and you get great physical and enzymatic exfoliating results.

Not a bar soap user? No worries, there is the Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash with the same moisturizing and exfoliating experience. Want to enhance your bath experience? Then you need to try the Coconut & Papaya Bath Bombs. I'm a shower person, so I use the bath bombs for manicures and pedicures. There are six in each box. But I cut each in half to get two mani uses. The coconut oil and shea butter leave my skin feeling soft and supple. Lastly, I received the Coconut & Papaya 24 Hr Deodorant.  I haven't put this to use yet. Living in hot, humid, Florida, I will wait until our cooler months. I will report back at a later date.
